Boca de Tomatlan

   The pueblo (town) of Boca de Tomatlan is located 10 minutes drive south of Mismaloya Beach, and about 25 minutes from the center of Puerto Vallarta. This small, beautiful cove is home to fishermen and others who enjoy this village atmosphere. The cove has a river that cuts through the jungle and feeds into the ocean. The fishermen keep their boats on the river at night, then bring them onto the ocean in the morning. The children of the area swim in the river where it enters the ocean.You can see the boats enter and exit the cove all day from "Casa de las Buganvillas," the house for rent. Boca de Tomatlan has about 100 homes along the river and surrounding the cove itself. The town of "Boca," as it is known by the locals, has little stores, restaurants, and a sandy beach to enjoy. Get to the beach early and you can buy fresh fish right off the boats. A local bus services Boca every 15 minutes, going to Puerto Vallarta and back. You can charter a small boat or take a water taxi to the beaches south of Boca, which are only accessible by boat. Boca de Tomatlan is the place to stay to enjoy nature, and to get away from the mass of tourists in Puerto Vallarta.
